La tuberculosis sigue siendo una de las enfermedades infecciosas más mortales del mundo. Cada día en el mundo, más de 4 000 personas pierden la vida a causa de la tuberculosis y cerca de 30 000 enferman de esta enfermedad prevenible y curable. En las Américas, cada día mueren más de 70 personas y cerca de 800 enferman por esta enfermedad. Se estima que en 2020 había 18 300 niños con TB en las Américas, la mitad de ellos menores de 5 años.
